Nicholas Lecakes is an associate practicing in the areas of governmental and municipal liability, medical malpractice defense and general liability. Nick has served as Assistant General Counsel to the Drugs, Devices and Cosmetic Division of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation prosecuting violations of the Drugs, Devices and Cosmetic Act before the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH). He has also spent an extensive amount of time serving as an Assistant State Attorney with the Second and Eighteenth Judicial Circuits, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony offenses. As an Assistant State Attorney, he took approximately 50 cases to trial and served as either the first or second chair.
Nick obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Stetson University, and his juris doctorate degree from the Florida Coastal School of Law. While at the Florida Coastal School of Law, he was a Governor’s Scholarship recipient and Themis Public Interest Bar Scholarship recipient. He also was a regional semi-finalist in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition. In his free time, Nick is an avid tennis player, enjoys participating in cross fit activities and continually participates in the annual “Murph Challenge”.
Nick is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts and the United States District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), Defense Research Institute (DRI), Tallahassee Bar Association (TBA).
